FAQs:
Q: Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
A: The chef will be able to provide a vegan and gluten-free option, which you can indicate while ordering your ticket(s).
Q: Can I come alone?
A: Yes! You’ll be seated at a table with five other people, with whom you’ll be collaborating.
Q: Can I bring someone with me?
A: As long as you bought them a ticket! You’ll be seated together at a table with four other people.
Q: Can I book this for a group?
A: If your group is six people or fewer, yes, just buy the appropriate number of tickets. For a larger group, please email me to discuss a private booking.
Q: Does everyone at the table get to participate, or are the puzzles just going to be solved by whoever is the smartest/fastest/best at escape rooms?
A: No matter who’s at your table, you will play a role in solving the puzzles.
Q: Is this like a dinner theater? Will I have to interact with performers?
A: No, this is more like an escape room. You will only have to interact with your tablemates.
Q: Why does it cost so much?
A: Short answer: because it’s simultaneously a dinner party and an escape room.
Long answer: The value of this experience comes from the three people making it possible. $75 of your ticket pays Chef Shelby Fahrni for the four courses she prepares. $40 of your ticket pays my co-host, Alex Cahanap, for her venue, decor, and logistics. And $55 of your ticket pays me for designing and hosting the experience. (Typical escape rooms charge ~$35 per person for an hour, but this is a very unique puzzle experience and setting that lasts ~2 hours.) This leaves $25 of your ticket for supplies and expenses (like a dishwasher!)
But the final element of this math equation is actually YOU. I really care about creating a fun experience for you—but I can only do that with a small group of people. If you’ve ever maxed out the capacity of a traditional escape room, you know what I’m talking about—too many cooks in the kitchen. In fact, in a Puzzle Well survey, one Puzzler wrote “I know from only ever going to 1 actual escape room (with like 8 other people) it was frustrating to me that I was not a part of all of the pieces that helped us ‘escape.’ Is there a way to ensure everyone will have a role in the dinner party escape?"
This was a very important design consideration for me, and the bottom line is that in a dinner party setting, I don’t think it’s possible to design something with Eric The Puzzler flair that produces a cohesive and enjoyable experience for a large group. So although we wish we could use economies of scale to price this lower, we really can’t—for the sake of your enjoyment! Trust us that we have done everything possible to make this worthwhile for both you and for us. Thanks for supporting small, local, independent creatives!
